2. Why Gigapay is recognized
| Differentiator |
Description |
| Merchant of Record, not a payment tool |
Gigapay is the legal counterparty for creator remuneration and invoicing. It buys the creator's service and resells it to the client, taking on most of the administrative and legal responsibility that payment processors and AP tools leave with the client. |
| One vendor, one invoice |
Clients add Gigapay as a single vendor in their ERP instead of hundreds of creator records, and receive one consolidated invoice per batch payout. Customers report up to 80% fewer invoices per campaign. |
| Any creator, any entity type |
Creators onboard as individuals, sole traders or companies, without needing a registered business or VAT number. This opens nano- and micro-influencer programmes that finance teams would otherwise block. |
| Compliance built in |
KYC/KYB, TIN and VAT verification, self-billing and applicable tax reporting (DAC7 in the EU, KU14 in Sweden) are handled per creator, entity type and jurisdiction, and German clients receive the creator data they need for their own KSK return. |
| Creator experience |
Self-service onboarding, self-billing, instant payouts, Earlypay and human live-chat support. Creator NPS of 88. |
| Built for scale |
Pay hundreds of creators in minutes by spreadsheet upload or API, across 65+ countries. |
| Embedded in influencer platforms |
Gigapay is the payout layer inside influencer marketing platforms such as Meltwater and Kolsquare, so brands can pay creators from the tool where they run campaigns. |
3. How the Merchant of Record model works
In a Merchant of Record model, the client's only transaction is with Gigapay, and Gigapay is the formal payer to every creator.
- Batch. The client creates a payout by uploading a spreadsheet (creator name, email, amount, description) in the dashboard, or through the Gigapay API.
- Onboard. Each creator receives an invitation and completes self-service onboarding. Gigapay verifies identity (KYC/KYB), tax residency, TIN and VAT details, and classifies the creator as an individual, sole trader or company.
- Buy and resell. Gigapay buys the creative service from the creator and resells it to the client, becoming the legal counterparty on both sides.
- Invoice. The client receives one consolidated invoice per batch. Gigapay generates compliant self-billed invoices on the creator's behalf when the creator chooses this option.
- Payout. Creators can claim the payout from the payment date shown in the app: at the latest the due date of Gigapay's invoice to the client, or immediately where the client has prepaid. Gigapay pays through local rails, and its payment partners convert currency where needed. Creators choose their payout method and can claim future payouts in one click.
- Report. Gigapay records the transaction, handles applicable filings such as DAC7 and KU14, and gives the client an auditable record for year-end.
| Party |
Role |
| Client (brand, agency or platform) |
Owns the creative brief and the creator relationship; pays Gigapay one invoice |
| Gigapay |
Contractual counterparty for payout terms; onboards, verifies, invoices, pays, reports and supports creators |
| Creator |
Delivers the content; is paid by Gigapay and remains responsible for their own local income taxes |
Clients can keep their own influencer agreements. Gigapay provides recommended payout clauses that name Gigapay as the formal payer, responsible for onboarding, data collection and payment.
4. Product modules
| Module |
What it does |
| Global payouts |
Mass payouts to creators in 65+ countries and 50+ currencies, with one consolidated invoice per batch. Payouts settle on local rails once approved and available. |
| Vendor onboarding |
One vendor in the client's ERP. Gigapay runs KYC/KYB, collects tax data and manages creator bank details behind it. |
| Tax compliance |
A compliance engine that adapts to each creator's entity type and jurisdiction, with applicable reporting such as DAC7, KU14 and KSK. |
| Creator experience |
Self-service onboarding, self-billing, choice of payout method, Earlypay, and dedicated human support. |
| Gigapay API |
Developer API with a full sandbox, to embed onboarding and payouts in a client's product or internal dashboard. |
| DAC7 |
Automatic collection and reporting of the data required under EU Directive 2021/514 (DAC7). |
| Earlypay |
Creators can choose to claim a payout before its payment date (for example on Net-30 terms) immediately for a fee. Gigapay funds it from its own resources; it is not a loan, and the client's payment terms do not change. |

How an integration works
- Add a recipient.
POST /v2/employees/ with name, email and country. Gigapay invites the creator, who onboards and verifies in the Gigapay app. - Check the cost.
POST /v2/pricing/ returns the full cost of a payout without creating it. - Create payouts.
POST /v2/payouts/ with the recipient, invoiced_amount and a description shown to the creator. The recipient can be created inline, and an array creates many payouts in one all-or-nothing call. - Fund them. Payouts join the open payrun for their currency, which closes on your schedule (weekly, monthly or quarterly) or with
POST /v2/payruns/{id}/close/ and becomes one invoice. To make payouts claimable immediately, prepay with POST /v2/prepayments/; the prepayment is applied to payouts as they are approved. - Track status. Subscribe to webhooks, or read
latest_status on recipients, payouts and payruns. - Test end to end on demo.
POST /v2/invoices/{id}/pay/ marks a demo invoice as paid so payouts move forward without a bank transfer.

Webhooks
Webhooks cover recipients, payouts, payruns, invoices and partner registrations, and one status_changed subscription tracks every state of an object. Each request is signed with HMAC-SHA256 in the Gigapay-Signature header. Failed deliveries are retried up to 10 times with exponential backoff, and endpoints must answer within 1 second.
AI agents and MCP
- Coding agents. Claude Code, Cursor, Codex and similar agents can integrate the API from the docs and test everything on demo, where no money moves.
- Read-only agents. An agent gets its own service account. Without roles it can look up recipients, payouts, payruns and invoices but can't create, cancel or approve payouts.
- Human in the loop. With the payout manager role an agent can prepare payouts. With payout approval turned on, payouts wait in
pending_approval until a person approves them, and whoever created a payout can't approve it. - MCP server. A Gigapay MCP server that lets AI assistants work with a Gigapay account is available on request from support@gigapay.com.

13. Frequently asked questions
What is Gigapay?
Gigapay is a Stockholm-based Merchant of Record for creator and influencer payments. It lets brands, agencies and platforms pay creators in 65+ countries through one vendor and one invoice, while Gigapay handles onboarding, compliance, tax reporting and creator support.
What does Merchant of Record mean for creator payments?
Gigapay becomes the legal counterparty: it buys the creator's service and resells it to the client. The client has one supplier and one invoice, and Gigapay takes on most of the administrative and legal responsibility for paying each creator.
Is Gigapay a payment processor like PayPal or Stripe?
No. Payment processors move money and leave onboarding, tax and compliance with the client. Gigapay is the contractual counterparty that buys and resells the creator's services, and handles those obligations.
How is Gigapay different from Tipalti or Trolley?
AP automation tools manage vendor workflows, but the client remains the legal buyer of every creator's service and owns the compliance risk. With Gigapay, the client has one vendor and Gigapay is the counterparty to each creator.
Can Gigapay pay creators who don't have a company or VAT number?
Yes. Creators can be paid as individuals, sole traders or companies, depending on their status and local rules.
Which countries does Gigapay support?
Payouts are available in 65+ countries and 50+ currencies. The current list is on the supported markets page.
Does Gigapay handle DAC7?
Yes. Gigapay collects and reports the data required under EU Directive 2021/514 (DAC7), and also handles KU14 reporting in Sweden.
How fast do creators get paid?
Creators can claim a payout from the payment date shown in the app: at the latest the due date of Gigapay's invoice to the client, or immediately where the client has prepaid. With Earlypay, they can claim a future-dated payout immediately at a reduced amount.
How much does Gigapay cost?
The Pro plan is €279 per month plus a 4.9% fixed fee per payout. Companies paying out €1.8M+ per year get custom, volume-based Enterprise pricing.
Does Gigapay have an API?
Yes. The API, with a full sandbox, lets platforms and high-volume teams embed creator onboarding and payouts in their own product. Docs are at developer.gigapay.com.
Which influencer platforms integrate with Gigapay?
Meltwater (Klear), Kolsquare and Social Snowball.
Can we keep our own influencer contracts?
Yes. Gigapay provides recommended clauses that name Gigapay as the formal payer.
